It's Hot Momma!

That subject line can be read so many different ways. I left out a comma so you can say it however you want to. Personally, I don't feel like a Hot Momma, but dang, it is HOT outside! Extra hot.
Not you-live-in-the-south-so-what-do-you-expect, hot. It is hot for even here in the south.

What do I do when it is so hot? I crochet! I finished up this wrap:

I tested this hat and cowl pattern:

I am working on three pairs of socks too. I hope to have photos of them, next time.

I've had two plum trees for four or five years. I have had ONE plum to eat, in all those years. THIS year though? Oh my, they both are producing more fruit than I can keep up with. I don't believe in spraying for bugs, so a lot goes to waste. It's been kinda fun though, going out in the mornings and picking ones that look promising.
There are twice as many on the ground as there are here, in my sink.

We won't go camping until fall. I forgot to share these photos from our last camping trip this past spring. On our way to the campgrounds, there is this tree that fascinates me. I always think it's raising its arms to try to surprise me. hahaha
I look forward to seeing it again.

I've been working on this orphan block quilt for a few months now. Today I made progress with the help from my "Design Consultants", otherwise known as The Mister and The Young Man. I will change the layout a little bit before it's sewn together. I am liking how it's turning out though.
That's it for this post! Till next time, happy crafting ya'll!

Sock (it) to (me) Sock

I am getting better and better at crocheting socks.
This is the best heel turn I have made so far!

I've been trying to go for a walk every day.
This morning I was herding bunny rabbits.
Can you see all three?

I'm still progressing with my embroidery project:

We went camping again and my favorite tree was happy to see us!

I finished a blanket shawl:

When camping, this was the mini waterfall next to our campsite:

The weather has turned super hot.
We have 'reverse cabin fever' where we stay indoors all summer
like folks stay indoors in the winters, up north.
I am ready though. I have lots of books to read!

Here is the latest Orphan Block quilt top.
This will be given as a donation quilt, through our local guild.

This isn't a bug.
It's a crack in the windshield of the car!

Finally, back to those socks.
This pair is done!
I've stared THREE more pairs since then.
Summer is a good time to do socks as they aren't so hot in your lap while stitching.

This catches me up for now!
Till next time, happy crafting!!!

Lucky penny and gooses!

Camping season is upon us and we often have the most unusual 'finds'.
You might think this penny is ancient but it is either from the 1990's or 1980's.
I started crocheting socks again.
They are a great smaller project to take along when camping.

I am making these for myself.

On the design wall in the studio we have several projects in the works.
I'm making blue blocks for a blue themed quilt.
The black and tan blocks in the lower left are for our guild's 2022
Mystery Quilt Challenge.

For May 1st I did a May basket on my embroidery project.

While camping, this little fella decided to hitchhike with me:
I've never seen such a small tick.

I made these flowers after seeing a photo of them on my friend Jaye's blog:
Leaf by leaf I keep adding bits and pieces to my project:

A quilt top has been completed for our guild's community service quilts. This is made from what is called our "Orphan Block Challenge." Everyone turns in fabric or blocks and I organize it into quilt tops. Some of them are quite busy, like this one:

We're camping again this weekend. It's been five years since we've been to this state park. I don't know why we haven't come back to it before! It's lovely to be so close to the water. These geese are floating by. There are turtles on the floating logs. The Mister even saw a huge blue crane.
That's it for this week. It's super hot out and being near the water has been wonderful. I hope you all have a great weekend too! Happy Crafting Y'all

All kinds of stitches!

I have several crochet projects going on right now.
This will become a cardigan. (I hope)
I'm still stitching along with the embroidery project.
I made a snail in the garden.
This is one of the Orphan Block Challenge quilts in progress. I've done some of the work but guild members also volunteer to help. I am auditioning the next border color on my design wall here:

I was poking around on one of the market place sites the other day and snagged this electric yarn winder for a super good price! It even came with two HUGE totes full of more yarn. Like fabric for quilters, us 'hookers' can't really have too much yarn, can we?

We went camping and really enjoyed our family time together.
One of the dogs' tails seemed to help us play cards! hahahaha

These were guild challenge blocks at our last meeting.
There are two types here. I'm just sharing so I can prove I still do some quilting stuff.

This yarn is so pretty.
The photo just doesn't do justice to how vibrant the colors are.
I am making a shawl with it:
Look what happens in the dark!!!
No, it isn't glowing. It is reacting to the TV's light. I think this is so cool!
We celebrated a very quiet Easter this year.
No kids meant no hiding baskets of candy. I did enjoy putting up my tree though.

Last, but not least, I am pulling fabrics for the upcoming
Mystery Quilt Challenge at my guild. Since I am presenting it,
I figured I probably should actually MAKE it too!

I saw this in a crochet group I follow and since I am also a classic rock lover, I had to share.
No, really, I HAD to!

That's all for now folks!
Thank you for visiting my blog.

Keeping myself in stitches

I am doing an embroidery, stitch-a-day challenge this year.
Here is a progress photo:
Each month gets a special design to represent the month.
April's was the wedding ring set because we celebrated our wedding anniversary!

Here is a photo of the whole piece.
I am mostly working on the bottom area right now.
I'm adding a house in the background too!
I am making a leaf for each day of the year.
I have put some fishes, sailboats, and soon, will add a duck, all in my pond.

I hope you've enjoyed looking at my project!
Thank you for stopping by.

Well, that was fun!

I have not posted in like forever. I stopped because I could not get photos to post. On a whim, I tried to post some pictures today and shoc...
